On Wednesday 7 November, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet ICT and Digital Government team hosted the 14th Better Together Showcase. The showcase was attended by almost 500 people and offered an insight into best practice engagement and ‘Industry 4.0’ emerging technologies.
Keynote speaker The Hon David Speirs MP, Minister for the Environment and Water and Cabinet Secretary, discussed how he helped develop the six Better Together principles in 2011 and that he has since seen an adoption of these principles across South Australian and Local Government. He also reflected on the success of taking a holistic approach to community engagement with the Natural Resource Management reforms, using online engagement to complement face-to-face interaction to include communities living in rural and remote South Australia.
A series of short presentations followed, with industry leaders summarising the latest engagement tools that can help deliver innovative solutions. Topics included design thinking, addressing policy challenges, leveraging large-scale collaboration and implementing new technology in partnership with community.
After a morning tea and networking break, the BT Digital small-group workshops took place. Led by workshop facilitators, participants further explored these topics and also learned more about the use of Google Analytics to create efficiencies in the workplace.
